About
Hi, my name is Emily, and I recently graduated from The University of Sheffield. I am a well-presented, effective communicator, as well as a highly organised and efficient individual whose thorough and precise approach has produced excellent feedback and results. A highly resourceful designer with an ambition to provide flexible solutions to the challenges affecting today’s modern architectural practices.
Having studied for my RIBA Part 1 qualification at Cardiff University and just completed my RIBA Part 2 MArch at The University of Sheffield, I have gained a diverse range of experiences and skills. Throughout my MArch studies, I have undertaken group work activities where we worked for live clients in and around Sheffield and developed my own personal interests, such as sustainability, community-based projects and the changing role of architecture within the climate emergency. I have also undertaken a dissertation which explored the role heritage and existing buildings can play within our built environment and how reuse is essential for architects to consider as the climate emergency envolves.
I look forward to using these interests and skills throughout my time in practice and look forward to their continued development.
Outside of architecture, I enjoy working in creative fields such as printmaking, sewing, filmmaking, sculpture and photography. Many of these skills have been utilised within my work and helped me contextualise my ideas. Photography has played a key role in recording my keen interest in the natural landscape and plants. I have attended horticultural shows to research my ideas and many architectural and artistic exhibitions. I am a keen learner and look forward to developing new creative interests throughout my career development.
During my Part 1 placement, I worked in a multi-disciplined architectural practice in the heart of Cardiff, Wales. Here I gained experience on a selection of projects, both large and small scale, for example, Residential, Education, Public Realms and Conservation projects. Whilst at the practice, I was lucky enough to work with multi-discipline teams such as Landscape Design and Civil Engineering.
